We have just released another free update for SLOTH, being it up to version 1.2.1, but what is new? Let’s take a closer look!

New Tooltip Style

To start of, we have updated the appearance and functionality of the tooltips. They should stand-out a bit more and not “fall away” into the styling of the rest of the plugin anymore. On top of that whenever a widget has multiple interactions, small LEFT and RIGHT mouse button icons will appear with the name of the associated action.

Hopefully this should give a better representation of when something has multiple actions instead of having to rely on digging through the manuals!

Improved Display

With a few recent development in the design aspect of our plugins, we have updated the display shader for SLOTH, making it more in-line with other plugins. On top of that, we also removed some heavy calculations making it more optimized so it runs faster!

Parameter Smoothing

When it comes to VST3 plugins, parameters are updated only once per block of audio-data instead of a allowing a continuous audio-stream causing the updates to be handled stepwise at certain intervals.

This can result in all sorts of unwanted sound glitches of not treated properly. The Solution? Sample-Accurate-Parameter-Smoothing! The idea is to do a small crossfade of the parameter values between the previous and new state. This avoid sudden changes in the output and results in a crystal-clear audio experience.

Note that other plugins formats (such as CLAP) offer true sample-accurate-parameters discarding the need for smoothing entirely!

LV2 Support

As we are constantly working on updates, we are also looking at ways to expand our reach. This time we’re doing so by including LV2 as plugin format, this means that a lot of Linux-based DAWs such as Ardour, LMMS, Reaper, Zrythm and more just got another friend to play around with!

Conclusion

If you haven’t purchased SLOTH yet, we highly suggest checking it out, all future-updates are free and we keep all of our plugins updated regularly to ensure they are always working inside your DAW of choice. If you notice and bugs or issues, feel free to reach out to us!
