Kick off 2026 with some creative tools! All of our plugins have been upgraded to keep them relevant, working as they should. Let's take a closer look at how the upgrades take your music production to the next level.
Previously we relied on the default Text-Rendering system provided by JUCE (like many other plugins do) but it gave us some limitations due to our custom OpenGL-Renderer. By switching over to FreeType we have crossed those obstacles which allows us to have more flexibility over when and where to draw text. Additionally this brings performance improvements in the render pipeline, especially on older systems.
As part of ongoing maintenance for Darkpalace Studio plugins we have been updating some frameworks to their latest version and fixing a couple of bugs that were present. This makes everything more stable and reliable for you.
We have changed some of the interactions on the widgets inside of chameleon, with the ‘Order-Slider’ being one of them. Previously you had to Click-Drag Left/Right to change the value, this has been changed to Click-Drag Up/Down to make it more consistent with our other plugins such as Caterpillar and Caterpillar
We have updated the installer for chameleon which in all honestly, was long overdue. Previously when installing, the files would be placed directly in the vst3 folder. Now all of our plugins are consistently installed in the vst3/darkpalacestudio subfolder.
Additionally, we have added PKG installer for MacOS to make it a lot easier! As usual, all of our plugins continue to receive love for VST3, CLAP, LV2 and AU formats.
Note: Due to the changes to the Installers on Windows, you should first remove the previous version of the plugin before installing the latest version to avoid issues.
